How to get the fastest internet for the lowest price in Addis Ababa.
Is 4G better than ADSL?
It has been a while
since Ethio Telecom started offering unlimited wired broadband
internet access for private users such as you and me, subscription
fee for this service starts from 546 Birr for 512 Kbps (Kilobits)
connection up to 7,359 Birr for a 10 Mbps (Megabits) connection, click
this link if you want to read more about ADSL offers from Ethio Telecom.
Recently Ethio Telecom started offering unlimited Premium Mobile Package plans for anyone with a 3G or 4G SIM card but unlike the unlimited wired broadband, unlimited wireless will only coast you 1,900 Birr for the entire month with speeds up to 80 Mbps on 4G SIM card and 5 Mbps on 3G, during my test I found out that the average speed I was getting on a 4G SIM card outdoors was 50 Mbps and indoors was 25 Mbps, when you compare the speed and the price of wireless with the wired broadband it wouldn't even come close, a 2 Mbps unlimited wired broadband internet access will coast you 1,768 Birr for a month. So what's going on with Ethio Telecom?
It seems to me that they have overlooked this situation, so until they figure it out enjoy fast internet for a cheap price :)
